Inside PAPER's 40th Anniversary Party With Doechii, NLE Choppa and Halsey
By Ivan Guzman
Sep 09, 2024There’s truly no party like a PAPER party.
In celebration of our 40th Anniversary, we took to the West Side to throw a rager with Miage where the PAPER energy, past and present, was in full force. Within the historic walls of S.O.B., influencers and legendary New Yorkers alike gathered to drink Don Julio cocktails as the bass thumped and BTS footage of our zine shoots played on the TVs.

Amongst those in attendance were PAPER faves like Dorian Electra, CLIP, Aaron Rose Philip, Jae Gottlieb, Jack Powers, James Charles, Aliyah's Interlude, Sabrina Brier, Cakes Da Killa, Harry Daniels and JerZ Queen — along with the Downtown vanguard like Susanne Bartsch, Aquaria, Linux, Sophia Lamar and Kuby Lin. Halsey and Avan Jogia smooched in the VIP section, while others mingled and took selfies with our special-edition zines.
Also: Noah Cyrus, Tiffany Hadish, Jake Shane, Banks, Julian Casablancas, Coco Rocha, Rickey Thompson, Denzel Dion, Bella Poarch, Cobrah, HorsegiirL, Morgan Saint, Audrey Nuna, Dascha Polanco, Jennaske, Emely Moreno, Ali Lohan and more.
GG Magree, Rossi and Sizzy Rocket kicked off the night's music in our Red Bull booth, including a special live performance of their duet "Freak U Out." Then, DJs Hu Dat, Tommie Sunshine, Frost Children and Makadsi, who closed out the party until 2 AM.
In-between sets, the crowd was served with the main course of the night: performances from Doechii and NLE Choppa. Our cover stars performed their hits for the rowdy audience, and demonstrated exactly why they are pushing music and culture into the future.
For four decades now, PAPER has been at the forefront of boundary-pushing in publishing, and our party was a glistening reminder of the community and culture we’ve cultivated throughout the years.
As Editor-in-Chief Justin Moran says in his editor’s letter for the 40th Anniversary issue: “No rules, only possibilities.”
