Jean Paul Gaultier Celebrates Iconic Fragrances in Marrakesh

Jun 02, 2025

The group of 30 or so actors, models and influencers gathered by Jean Paul Gaultier in Marrakesh to celebrate its Le Male and Gaultier Divine fragrances is young, chic and brash — diverse in their roots and profession but linked by their commitment to being fiercely themselves. JPG has assembled this lineup at Morocco’s lush Amanjena hotel for an unforgettable (and I don’t use that term lightly) weekend of celebratory meals, traditional Moroccan entertainment and even some shopping at the local souk.

Guests for the weekend included a number of PAPER favs, like recent cover star Dylan Mulvaney, Tanya Ravichandran, Alexander Roth, Jacob Bixenman and Gigi Goode alongside other young icons like Josie Totah, Miss Benny, Gavin Leatherwood, Drew Tanner, Joe Flowers, Tefi Pessoa and lots more. The group became fast friends: “I hadn’t expected the new wildly vibrant friendships that I would make over the long weekend,” Mulvaney told PAPER of the trip. “It felt like gay summer camp when we all said we’d write each other back at home, but we actually have and meant it!”

The entire weekend highlighted Jean Paul Gaultier’s signature fragrances, Le Male Elixir Absolu and Gaultier Divine Le Parfum. Le Male Elixir Absolu, an intense scent with notes of lavender, plum and tonka bean, is instantly recognizable in its bright gold bottle shaped like a sculpted torso; Gaultier Divine Le Parfum includes notes of salt, floralsand benzoin in a similar gold bottle, this one with a snatched waist and JPG’s iconic cone bra corset.

The long weekend in Marrakesh included a fabulous poolside photoshoot at the Amanjena, a Gaultier Tavern dinner with traditional Moroccan music, shopping and calligraphy lessons at a souk in the old city (I nabbed some leather goods myself) and a dinner in the Amenjena’s main hall on the final night at just about the longest table you’ve ever seen. As the sun rose on our last morning in Marrakesh and we watched the sun rise over the Amanjena’s incredible centerpiece reflecting pool, the scent of JPG’s fragrances lingered in our wake.
