Golf carts, free drinks, celeb-spotting (oh my!): Here at PAPER, we love a backstage hang, and festivals bring out a whole other layer of behind-the-scenes camaraderie and merrymaking.

We spent four days in Chicago for this year's Lollapalooza, running between artist trailers and side stage set-ups to hand over the PAPER microphone and get you the backstage lowdown from your favorite stars.

Below, check out exclusive photos of Conan Gray, Tate McRae, Huddy, METTE, d4vd, Zedd, Brandi Cyrus, Megan Maroney, Blu DeTiger, Pierce The Viel, Waterparks, Jake Shane, Wisp, Hozier and The Japanese House, by Vincenzo Dimino, along with highlights from backstage chats with PAPER.

Conan Gray

Conan Gray on his album Found Heaven:

The fan reaction has been hilarious and fun. I was not expecting their favorite song to be "Bourgeoisieses." I thought they were going to hate that one so much that they stopped listening to my music forever — so surprising!

Huddy on the energy of his yet-to-be-released project:

The energy is rock music fucking... going for it. Honestly, it's a lot gnarlier than [the music] I ever thought I'd make. I'm working with artists who really brought this new side out of me and shaped this sound and where I'm going. It's more about myself, where I came from and where I'm at today.

METTE on her Lollapalooza performance:

It was electric. It was so humid that my hair went from 100 density to 400 — the girls know how that is! My dancers have been super supportive during this whole thing. It feels like we gave birth to a baby. It was an almost perfect show.

Megan Moroney

Megan Moroney on the reaction to Am I Okay?

The fan reaction exceeded my expectations. They're the best. They've been hyping it up, and I can't even get on my For You page without hearing my own songs.

Brandi Cyrus on her Lollapalooza set:

On the first day of the festival, I played Perry's stage, which was iconic. Everyone was so excited to be here. I was nervous; you never know if people are going to show up. But it was incredible, the stage was packed. The one song that hits every time is "Hotel Room" by Pitbull. That's the one thing I know.

d4vd on the song fans get hype to live:

The fans are most excited about "Romantic Homicide." They're feeling it for sure.

Been Stellar on what they're most excited to share with their fans next:

The live performance. Now that we have Scream From New York, NY out, it's great that people can come see it live now that we have a full body of work out.

Blu DeTiger

Blu DeTiger on her latest album:

It feels amazing to have All I Ever Want Is Everything out in the world. I've been working on it for almost three years. It's great to give people the opportunity to get the full picture of who I am.

Pierce The Veil on their Lollapalooza weekend experience.

We got woken up at 8 AM by Skrillex yesterday. The best wake-up call you can have. That just set the tone for the weekend. Fans are having the most fun with "The Jaws Of Life" off the new album. It gets the people going. It's what they want, it's what they came for.

Waterparks on their favorite moment in their set:

Right before the very last chorus of the very last song I got to rest for a bit and take it all in. Sometimes festivals do this thing where the left side is empty because they want people pay a million dollars to be there. They didn't do that. I could look out and see a pit on both sides. It's like, nice balance!

The Japanese House

The Japanese House on her new song "Smiley Face."

It's definitely my favorite song to play in the set, because everyone is smiling up at me, which is nice. It's nice to finally release a song that's not really fucking depressing.

Cults on their album To The Ghost:

It's been really shocking. Right when we got off stage, our friend told us that a bunch of kids in the audience were singing the new song. The record's only been out for about a week. We were worried. We thought we should let the album marinate a little before we hit the road. It seems like people are consuming faster these days. It's been nice to know that people are really listening to the record.

The Last Dinner Party on what song US audiences are digging:

"Femine Urge" has always gone down well. A lot of "Sinner" lately as well. A lot of fans take out their rainbow flags during the song, it's really cute.
