Converse Is Celebrating Chucks and Love in LA
May 23, 2025
This month, PAPER and Converse are joining forces to celebrate love.
Converse’s “Love, Chuck” campaign kicked off an incredible opportunity to celebrate the work of emerging artists Pablo Banuelos and Alyse Arteaga, who each offered their own love response to the brand’s campaign with personal video works. PAPER and Converse are throwing an event called “Love, Chuck: Scenes from LA,” the event will feature an incredible floral display reminiscent of Banuelos’ film Flower District with take-home bouquets by Danny’s Flowers and a cinematic manual film experience highlighting Celluloid by Arteaga. It’s all a fresh and interactive way to honor the iconicity of Chucks in fashion and pop culture through a Hollywood-inspired premiere of the artists’ works — and a chance for Angelenos to show up in their own Chucks and celebrate.
Born in Pasadena and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, Banuelos has been making moves his entire life in LA. “Chuck 70s have always been a staple in my closet, and I love using them until my soles fall off,” he tells PAPER. “I’ve always been driven to make films about the hidden artists in life because they all deserve to be recognized for being the foundation of our beautiful city. But mostly, I’m driven by the support of my loved ones. Many people work towards their goals to prove somebody wrong. I create because I want to prove my friends and family right.”
Arteaga is a filmmaker from Paramount, California, dedicated to storytelling that explores identity, beauty, and service to bring community and intention to the forefront. She says that her collaboration with Converse felt like kismet — an opportunity to spotlight the people and organizations keeping analog alive and accessible for all.
Whether they’re beat up or fresh out of the box, come show out in your Chucks for two rising star artists and explore PAPER and Converse’s world in “Love, Chuck: Scenes from LA” at Kiosk-o-Thèque, 8224 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA from May 29th to May 30th.
