A Very Brittany Broski Christmas

A Very Brittany Broski Christmas

Dec 09, 2024

Internet icon Brittany Broski loves the holidays. But before she can enter her peak festive season, she needs to tend to her digital empire.

The Texas-born, LA-based perennial internet presence has been a pop culture mainstay since 2019 when she documented her enthusiastic reaction to her first sip of kombucha and posted it online. The response was an over-the-top, outlandish mode of virality. Learning what to do with her sudden fame was definitely a learning experience, Broski tells PAPER. “My digital footprint, as it stands, is horrifying,” Broski relents, laughing. “Live0streaming from the asylum probably wasn't the move. You live and learn.” But since then, Broski has channeled that lightning-in-a-bottle jolt into a steady buzz that keeps the millions of members of her vast fanbase (“Broski Nation,” as she calls it) entertained. She has two wildly popular YouTube shows, a line of extra cozy MuuMuus and is a reliably affable presence in the zeitgeist.

Her wit, curiosity and generally infectious enthusiasm has made her a go-to interview for Hollywood A-listers and digital favs alike. “Instead of just having another podcast that's guest-centric, I wanted to make the next Hot Ones,” Broski tells PAPER of “Royal Court,” her YouTube show where she interviews industry notables while covered in head-to-toe royal regalia. “It's taking off which is very exciting. I’ve been doing internet things for so long, and now we're creating almost like a studio or production company.” This year she’s invited the likes of Saoirse Ronan, Charli xcx and Hasan Piker to her regal chamber.

Now, despite her busy schedule, Broski is focused on tackling the holidays. Friends and the holidays are of particular importance to the viral star, since the topic of who to celebrate with can be a “sensitive” topic for many. “If you don't have a family to go home to, you have a chosen family, and that's a beautiful thing,” Broski shares. “I think a lot of people forget that they have a choice and autonomy. You don't have to be miserable around people that make you feel unloved. You can be with people you want to be with, and that's still a holiday tradition.”

And like most holiday traditions, some refreshments make things all the merrier — be it some spiked eggnog or a much-needed hard seltzer. To help ensure anyone can find the time to spend the holidays with their friends, Broski and White Claw are giving away a chance to win a luxury travel experience (in a helicopter, jet, boat or more). All you have to do is enter why you want to see your friends this holiday season here for a chance to earn your jet-setting holiday.

But before we set off on our PJ journey, we sat down with Broski to chat about the holidays, the trials of world domination and what celeb she’d like to have at her family’s holiday table.

I feel like you're the busiest woman in Hollywood. Do you ever take time off?

Girl. It feels like it [laughs]. No, I don't take time off. I really do not.

How do you fit in your million podcasts, MuuMuu Empire and voracious pop culture appetite? Do you have any productivity tips to recommend?

I recently made the jump to investing in a planner and it's life-changing. I haven't had an agenda since I was in early college. I know Rosalía does this too. It's so satisfying to be able to physically scratch something off a to-do list. It keeps me motivated, versus having an ever-growing phone checklist. You get so bogged down. It just doesn't become fun. This job is so fun. Like, why am I stressed?

That's good advice. I’m sure your work is a lot to manage because it all happened so quickly for you. It must have been a process to figure out how to balance everything.

It has been a process for sure of not only figuring out what I want this to turn into, but also being intentional about it and being responsible with the platform and creating a space that people can come to when they need it. All of that has been very intentional. Instead of just having another podcast that's guest-centric, I wanted to make the next Hot Ones. That's what we're aiming to do with Royal Court. We just had Saoirse Ronan on. We have some amazing guests that we're filming with in December that will come out in the New Year. It's just taking off which is very exciting, finally. I’ve been doing internet things for so long, and now we're creating almost like a studio or production company.

I feel like you share so much of yourself with the world. Is there a moment where you're like, “There's Brittany for the world, and then Brittany for me and my friends,” or does it all get mixed up?

I don't think it gets mixed up. I think that it is censored a bit. You can overshare online and I am a hundred percent guilty of doing that. And then you realize quickly that you wish you hadn't done that, and that there's no taking it back. It's about striking a balance and saving some things for you and your friends that will never make it online, which is how it should be, because my digital footprint, as it stands, is horrifying. Live-streaming from the asylum probably wasn't the move. You live and learn.

What are your feelings towards the holidays? I know some people get the holiday blues. Do you identify with that?

Absolutely not. I love the holidays. I always fly home to either Texas or Florida, because my dad's in Florida. It's always something to look forward to for me. It's an excuse to get everyone together. And that’s why this campaign was a no-brainer, because it's an important message that I absolutely agree with. At the end of the day, all we have is each other. Objects don't mean much. It's about experiences, and it's about memories and sharing time with the people you love. I have great memories and traditions with my friends and family around the holidays, and I think it's a very special time if you spend it the way that you want to.

I know it is sensitive for a lot of people. If you don't have a good relationship with your family, or if you don't have a family to go home to, you have a chosen family and that's a beautiful thing. I think a lot of people forget that they have a choice and autonomy. You don't have to be miserable around people that make you feel unloved. You can be with people you want to be with, and that's still a holiday tradition. Make it your own.

If you could invite five people, out of anyone in the world, to your holiday supper, who would it be?

Stanley Tucci.

Just Stanley Tucci?

Just Stanley Tucci. Well, me, my family and Stanley Tucci.

We need to make that happen. Maybe next year?

We put out the ask to him. It keeps saying, “Blocked. Message not sent. Recipient has blocked your number.” So I think that we're working on that and maybe his wife can come as well. That'd be nice.

Are there any recent Royal Court guests you think would fit in with your family?

I think for sure Daisy Edgar Jones and Saoirse Ronan. Maren Morris was a gag, too. She would be so much fun. Maren Morris and my mother would gossip and I wouldn't even have to contribute. I would just sort of listen because it's that entertaining.

I feel like you've been with the Irish a lot recently?

My spirit is just called to Ireland. I just feel safe around them. I think they feel safe around me. I've got to go. I think my final resting place will be Ireland.

With the new year around the corner, do you have any resolutions or big hopes in relation to all the amazing projects that you're working on?

Every year is bigger and better. It's about being learning and growing and being smarter with everything you learned from the previous year. And it’s being more selective with who you spend your time with. Time is so precious. We only get a certain amount of hours alive on this planet, and you want to make the most of it. That's why I think working with White Claw was a no brainer, because this campaign is so smart. It reminds you of the priorities in life, which are being with people you love and making beautiful memories.
