Viral Margiela Model Returns With Sultriest Runway Walk Yet
By Mario Abad
Jan 23, 2020Add model Leon Dame's latest appearance at Maison Margiela Artisinal Spring 2020 to his list of show-stopping runway walks. After his first two savage walks for the brand went viral for their angsty, moody stomps, his third outing at yesterday's co-ed show veered in a slightly different direction, albeit still electrifying.
Clad in a skirt and belted jacket that was slipping off the shoulder, Dame once again stood out as he strutted and swayed slowly with one hand clasping the front of the jacket. While his past walks emanated a chaotic energy, this one resembled how models from the '50s would strut and pose at the couture shows.
It should be noted that the collection's theme revolved around bourgeois gestures and dress codes, which explains Dame's rich-Park Avenue-lady gait. Creative Director John Galliano used a bunch of materials typically associated with bourgeois wardrobes like tweed, bouclé, silks and fair isle knitwear.
Additionally, the majority of clothes were made from repurposed and upcycled materials, taking traditional bourgeois fabrics and hacking and twisting them to create deconstructed fantasies. Standouts included a lime green coat, an emerald gown and all the irresistible face masks. See, below, for some of the most notable looks.
