Junglepussy's Leo Season Lessons
By Joan Summers
Aug 21, 2024Leo season is in full swing. Out is the insular world of Cancers, in is the embodiment of Leos: life, expression, creativity. Good thing Junglepussy has been taking notes. The multi-hyphenate rapper and actress is back with new music and a new video to boot. In typical fashion, she slinks over the beat, cooly telling us to “step up your effortless and whatnot.” Fitting, as the new single is aptly called “Effortless Part One.”
The energies Leos are known for — charisma, adventurousness, confidence — are infused throughout her discography, dating back to 2014’s breakthrough Satisfaction Guaranteed. When not making music, like her most recent mixtape JP5000, Junglepussy has been busy at work on Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming epic The Battle of Baktan Cross, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall and more. What did I say about those creative energies?
While a solar Scorpio herself, Junglepussy tells PAPER she’s an “honorary Leo,” adding: “I think it’s funny how I came up with the name Junglepussy years before learning about my Leo placements.” Of course, their fiery nature also makes them quite temperamental, and Junglepussy tells us that, while “everyone says wear your sunscreen in the sun, no one says wear your LeoScreen around a Leo.” The solution? “One bottle of LeoScreen protects your ego up to 12 hours around a Leo - LHP75 (Leo Hater Protection) *Massage daily*."
Should that prove insufficient, however, she’s also prepared five helpful lessons from the lyrics of the song for “Effortlessness,” seeing as Leo also rules the fifth house.
- On “Run around, run wild” — “Stay playful, curious, and adventurous.”
- On “Step up your effortless and what not” — “Take it easy trust in who you are.”
- On “Check the checklist” — I love making lists, they help clear my mind, and checking things off releases endorphins.
- On “Learn to pick your lip up when I pull up on set” — “Can't blame me, I'm so sexy.”
- On “Get a sandwich made at 3 AM” — “Leo placements are like human sunshine... sometimes.”
