Rimowa Opens Up New Vegas Shop

Rimowa, the luxe luggage brand revived by LVMH heir Alexandre Arnault, has a new store in Sin City. They've opened up shop at The Forum Shops at Caesars, a mall that plays host to luxury brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. It's right on the Strip, and one of the highest grossing malls in the US. Perfect for high-rollers! Vegas, baby.

The Forum location is Rimowa's 18th store in North America, and they're celebrating the opening with a special artist collaboration. Customers will be able to preview a selection of color-graded suitcases made in partnership by renowned artist Alex Israel. The luggage is printed with color gradients from Israel's "Sky Backdrop" and "Untitled (Flat)" paintings. The pieces, which aren't available quite yet, will be on view during this weekend's opening.

There's already a waitlist for the Rimowa x Alex Israel pieces. It makes sense, given the design world's current infatuation with soothing gradients. A recent Vox article on the subject broke down their appeal. "Gradients are a visual manifestation of all of these different spectrums that we live on," Atlantic Internet culture reporter Taylor Lorenz told writer Daisy Alioto. "Before, I think we lived in a binary world. [Gradients are] a very modern representation of the world."
