Los Angeles rockers Niis may pronounce their name “nice,” but don’t let that lure you into a false sense of comfort — this foursome has no problem making unapologetic, in your face rock.

Niis is clearly on a mission to bring back pure, powerful punk with their gritty and noisy, lo-fi sound, through songs that make it clear they don't mind ruffling any feathers along the way.

Take their abrasive track “Fuck You Boy,” which sees formidable front woman Mimi howling out about the male-dominated, misogynistic music scene. There’s also “Crazy,” which see them bursting at the seems over distorted guitar chords and building bass. “I’ll take you back if you want me,” Mimi sings, her melodies crashing over a clashing percussive chorus.

The band is currently working on its first full-length album and is set to kick off a North American tour with Bad Religion this September. For now, they're giving PAPER a taste of all the riotous rock to come with a behind-the-scenes look at their recent Los Angeles Teregram Ballroom show — before the sweat, in the pit, and everywhere in between.

Meow Meow.
