A Kim Chi Makeup Line Is Coming

Toni Ko — one of America's Richest Self-Made Women, according to Forbes, and founder of NYX Cosmetics — is launching a new beauty line in partnership with Kim Chi, the Korean American influencer best known for his appearance on season 8 of RuPaul's Drag Race.

With the new venture the beauty mogul, who sold NYX to L'Oreal in 2014, hopes to kickstart another successful beauty brand.

"My life goal is to build another successful company," Ko told WWD. "I came here when I was 13 years old, a first-generation immigrant."

The collection, titled Kim Chi Chic, launches on October 16, and features a colorful range of products: three 'High Key Gloss' lip colors, eight glittery 'Diamond Sharts' liquid shadows, a 'Rainbow Sharts' eye shadow palette and two hand-held, LED-lit mirrors.

"If you feel the weight of the palette, it's very substantial, and it's only $29," Ko said. "We aren't the $50 palette. We're not your $25 lip-gloss company."

While the eye shadows will retail for $8 each, the lip glosses are priced at $9, and the mirrors for $25.

"He's amazing," Ko said of collaborating with Chi. "I just adore him so much... I want to work with people who are nice. I'd much rather work with someone who is more genuine, more organic, just that nice core person than with somebody who has a gazillion followers."

Chi, who boasts an Instagram following of more than 1.8 million, added: "It was always my dream to have a beauty brand. It means so much to me, and I'm so excited for the release."

But despite the start-up nature of the company, the duo is confident about its future and plan on dropping additional products in the coming months, including a rice powder-based setting powder called 'Puff Puff Pass,' a cream eye shadow line, 'Pot de Crème,' and concealer palette, 'Undercover Hoe,' WWD reports.

"I am self-funding currently," Ko said. "I do have that advantage. Also, I already do have that relationship with my suppliers. I don't have to go and source additional suppliers... I'm doing product development myself, and I have a graphic person. I want to bring in a lot of amazing influencer partners. I want everybody to be able to be very financially independent."

Kim Chi Chic drops October 16th and will be available to shop through the official website.
