This fall, JW Anderson is proposing you wear coats so big that you can stuff an entire house underneath. Well, maybe not to that degree, but you get the point. However, Designer Jonathan Anderson was feeling especially grandiose this season as he sought out to explore extreme volumes and proportions.
While the play on volume trickled trickled into everything from blankets to dresses, it was the statement outerwear that garnered the most attention on social media. These coats contained leather shawl collars that appeared to explode outwards and were made with custom fabrics developed in-house.
"I was playing with a mixture of fabrics at the studio," Anderson said in a statement. "Some we have used before and some new and it came together in a sort of collage." These included Fil-coupé dresses that moved effortless on the runway as well as knitted dresses and skirts in metallic materials.
As for accessories, the popular chain loafers from the brand's men's show in January made an appearance here in a new tone-on-tone version, while handbags also featured the signature chain motif. See, below, for more photos from JW Anderson Fall 2020.
