It's the final day of Fashion Month, and Louis Vuitton closed it out with a memorable, poignant collection that drew a standing ovation from the crowd. But it was the surprise soundtrack and visual from SOPHIE that lent the show a euphoric air. It was a significant moment for the producer/pop star, and the platform Louis Vuitton just gave her marks an important milestone for transgender visibility in the highest echelons of fashion. Celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, Justin Theroux, and Emma Chamberlain were all there to soak it all in.

Everything started out with the lights fully dimmed. A digital LED screen was then projected on a vast wall on one side of the indoor venue. A close-up of SOPHIE suddenly appeared onscreen. She sang an extended version of her 2017 single "It's Okay to Cry," and the edit shown on the runway was made specially for Louis Vuitton with participation of French music video director Woodkid. (His most notable works include the video direction for Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream", Taylor Swift's "Back to December," and Lana Del Rey's "Born to Die.")
The remixed video showed SOPHIE singing the words to her song against a cloudy blue sky for the entire duration of the show, until artistic director of women's collections Nicolas Ghesquiere came out to take his bow. Devoid of any grand spectacles or elaborate sets, it marked the culmination of the Spring 2020 collections and was a satisfying and appropriate way to close out fashion month.
