Sade's Son Thanks Her For Supporting Him Through His Transition
By Sandra Song
Sep 28, 2019Izaak Theo Adu — the son of smooth jazz legend Sade — recently recovered from his transition surgery, and in honor of the occasion, he publicly thanked his mother for her support during the process.
Yesterday, the 23-year-old took to Instagram to share the heartfelt open letter alongside an adorable picture of them, writing, "It's been a long hard road but We did it. We are coming home!!!!"

"Thank you for staying by my side these past 6 months Mumma," he continued. "Thank you for fighting with me to complete the man I am. Thank you for your encouragement when things are hard, for the love you give me. The purest heart. I love you so much. Queen of queens."
That said, this isn't the first time Adu has expressed his gratitude for his support network. Back in May, he thanked his family and friends via another Instagram post, in which he called himself "lucky because I have a family and friends that accept and love me just as I am."
"Being transgender is hard. Every day is a struggle. You are constantly fighting for the world to accept you and sometimes you even fight yourself," he wrote, later adding, "It isn't about WHAT I look like on the outside like but WHO I am inside."
