PAPER People: Kate Miller and Anna Duckworth (Miss Grass)

Dime bags are out; cannabis-laced gumdrops, tinctures, and salves are in. As states continue to fully legalize marijuana — at latest count, 10 plus the District of Columbia already have — cannabis usage and education grow increasingly sophisticated. At their digital publication and sales platform Miss Grass, Anna Duckworth and Kate Miller compile everything you need to know about your new options. For example: what to smoke before sex, which CBD products are best for your skin, and how each Democratic presidential candidate proposes to influence weed legislation. Earlier this summer, the duo raised $4 million from funders including Listen Ventures (whose portfolio includes Calm and Interior Define) and Casa Verde Capital (all marijuana-related ventures) to create their own line of cannabis products. — Alina Cohen

What's the biggest misconception about you?

Kate: I'm high all.the.time.

What was the last text you sent?

Anna: "hi frenemy." (to my partner who set two alarms at 5 AM today)

What's an interview question you never want to be asked again?

Kate: Any question that starts with, "As a woman in business..." I don't want my gender to qualify the hard work we're doing.

What's the craziest thing you've done in 2019?

Anna: Getting knocked up by my longtime crush.

What's the craziest thing you've done in 2019?

Kate: We raised $4M to make legal cannabis products, something if you told my younger self I would have thought you were crazy!

Where do you want to be when the world ends?

Anna: In my parent's bed in rural Nova Scotia.

Where do you want to be when the world ends?

Kate: Smoking a fat joint, with Rihanna. Or someone else on my bucket list. That would be a pretty epic way to go.

When was the last time you cried?

Anna: Today in couple's therapy. Shit's dehydrating.

When was the last time you cried?

Kate: Last week. I was in Sardegna for a few days before a friend's wedding in Italy. They were tears of happiness. Legit. I cried because of how delicious the pasta was. Best meal I've ever had. The view. The food. The wine. No lie. Full tears of happiness down my face. I felt so much gratitude in that moment for everything I have in my life.

What trend that you participated in do you never want to see again?

Anna: Fur-fringed belly-cropped winter jackets. I wore a white Tommy Hilfiger one for a good part of my university years in Montreal. That was wrong.
