Let LUAR and Moose Knuckles Style Your Winter
By Ivan Guzman
Oct 02, 2024Today, Moose Knuckles and LUAR unveil their multi-season collaboration with a collection that is at once furry and form-fitting. Debuting exclusively on PAPER, the drop comes at the perfect time as the autumn leaves fall and colder air comes in.
Longtime friends Raul Lopez, founder of LUAR, and Carlos Nazario, Global Artistic Director of Moose Knuckles, initially debuted this collection at LUAR’s runway show this past February, and today, it is finally available for purchase. “Growing up in this industry together, it was a natural choice to collaborate with him, my chosen family,” Nazario says.
The collection includes four staple pieces: the cocoon parka, the bomber, the Mongolian Brooke bag and the knit skull cap. The parka is a statement: a medium-weight, light down-filled garment with a detachable Mongolian sheepskin collar and additional shawl that envelopes the entire piece. With the bomber, which comes in leather or Nyluxe fabric, you can feel like a video game character while fighting the elements.
At the heart of the collection is LUAR’s signature Brooke bag, now reimagined with Moose Knuckles’ signature weather-resistant Nyluxe fabric and indulgent Mongolian wool detailing. And then there is the knit skull cap, the perfect low-key accessory for those chilly days, with braiding details throughout, a rib knit band and LUAR branding.
“It’s so exciting to be working with a brand that champions innovation, technology, and design,” says Lopez. “Those themes are always at the forefront throughout my design process, making this partnership feel so organic.
This collection digs deep into retro East Coast energy, pulling inspiration from vintage outerwear but making it modern. Moose Knuckles’ outerwear expertise shines with pieces that balance Luar’s unapologetic, rebellious spirit with high-performance weatherproofing. It’s a match made in heaven — high-tech fashion with a heart, and for LUAR loyalists, it’s a new chapter that brings the label’s flair to a whole new realm.
