Are Celebs Getting Real About Jeff Bezos' Lavish Wedding?

Jun 30, 2025

An extended network of famous conservatives and celebrities who dodge voting record allegations are finally winding down from a weekend of partying at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s extravagant wedding bash. In the meantime, the internet has made its own sort of party at the margins, scrutinizing the sartorial tastes of Sanchez and her attendants and amplifying the voices of Venetian protestors set on obstructing the festivities.

One group, however, has remained largely mum about the lavish affair, and that’s the rest of Tinseltown and its cadre of uninvited celebrities. (Or, if tabloid rumors are to be believed, celebrities who turned down invites out of concern for the optics.) But cracks are starting to form in the facade of niceties, spearheaded by none other than recent Bezos-Sanchez critic Olivia Munn.

Having been outspoken before about her opinions on the wastefulness of endeavors like the all-female Blue Origin flight, Munn opened Instagram on her phone to post a searing takedown of the wedding — at least as the tabloid rags see it. Specifically, however, she responded to a post from Mia Farrow that read, in full: “How awesome is MacKenzie Scott! (jeff Bezos first wife & mother of his 4 children) ). As of mid-December 2024, she has given a total of $19.3 billion to over 1600 charitable organizations.” Underneath, Munn commented two simple words: “Truly incredible.”

Now, this isn’t the scathing takedown I was led to believe she’d posted, but it certainly hints at deeper frustrations she continues to harbor (like everyone else) against the world’s richest couple. She’s not alone, either, amongst her peers. At her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach event over the weekend, Charlize Theron announced to a crowd: “I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding. But that’s okay because they suck and we’re cool.”

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Theron went on to thank attendees for “taking the time to be a part of this, especially when the world feels like it’s burning because it is. Here in Los Angeles, in the U.S. and across the globe, we’re moving backwards fast.” She continued, reminding patrons that “Immigration policy has destroyed the lives of families, not criminals; women’s rights are becoming less and less every day; queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased; and gender-based violence is on the rise. This isn’t just policy, it’s personal.”

Elsewhere, Katy Perry posted a video of herself feeding birds on a beach with the biggest smile plastered across her face. As rumors of her split from Orlando Bloom surfaced across the internet, she did not attend the wedding, while her ex did, despite very publicly intertwining herself with Lauren Sanchez on the Blue Origin rocket earlier this year. Perhaps she’s trying to tell us something!
