PAPER Editors' Dream Holiday Party Looks

PAPER Editors' Dream Holiday Party Looks

By PAPER MagazineNov 27, 2024

It’s holiday party season, and that normally means a room full of sequin bodycon dresses and slim fit suits. But the editors at PAPER are not normal, which is why we thought it’d be fun to share our dream holiday party looks from the luxury brands that speak to us. Of course, that means a RealTree fleece, low-rise leather pants and an all-over Gucci print set.

Below, see our editors' picks for their dream look from our favorite luxury brands for the holiday season.

Justin Moran, Editor-In-Chief

“For the holidays, I go home to Minneapolis, Minnesota where I grew up. If you haven’t been, it’s a great city — an unpretentious, lowkey place with really solid food and music scenes — but it’s also a city of extreme comfort. In zero degree winter weather, there’s sometimes no other choice, which is why I’d wear this camouflage PHIPPS fleece — perfect for sitting by the fire or making the trek to a dive bar for cheese curds and IPAs. I love that it’s a vintage ski-inspired shape, made in the US and produced by a queer designer, Spencer Phipps.”

“I love a uniform. This two-piece Gucci look is fabulous looking but also easy to wear as it’s in the most basic sportswear shapes. You get fabulous looking but stay comfortable and easy. For daytime, I would play sexy secretary by adding cardigan sweaters, sensible sunglasses and a working girl handbag and jewelry. Also the latest Gucci loafers. For evening, it’s all about sparkle tops, evening jackets or wraps and the most glamorous shoes from sneakers to sparkle platforms. The look is very MILF/mother of the bride but on a man. Also the fabulous gold and diamond Gucci jewelry for both daytime and evening because we need to feel glamorous all day!”

“I’ve been on the lookout for a low-key button-down that I can make a staple wear for the holidays — and this lightweight Loewe shirt fits the bill. Easy enough to dress up or down depending on the type of party I’m attending, and of course the embroidered Loewe logo is gorgeous.”

Andrew Nguyen, Fashion Editor

“Since my family is spread all throughout the country, I never know where the holidays will bring me so I need to pack lightly and with versatility, which is why a shoe that can do it all is of utmost importance. You’re probably thinking, ‘But a creeper?’ And to that I say, ‘Well, yes!’ Gucci’s version that was shown on the Fall 2024 runway can be treated like any black shoe, but adds much more intrigue. I’d wear them with denim and a t-shirt, a suit and even athleisure. Whatever occasion I find myself in this season, I know these shoes would have my back (and my feet)."

“Nothing screams the holidays like low waisted leather pants! These Dsquared2 distressed biker pants are perfect for all of your family affairs.”

Erica Campbell, Music Editor

“I can’t imagine wearing this without feeling so confident that I’d start an industry scandal or accidentally ruin someone’s life by sharing a rumor I overheard. And sure, you’re thinking, ‘Why would a gorgeous Marilyn Monroe-esque chic silhouette Saint Laurent dress make you act insane at a holiday party?” Well, I’ve done more for less, and there’s just something about looking like a vintage Hollywood star that makes me want to take part in a stiff martini and a lot of drama. I’d wear it with an oversized vintage fur coat, massive, chunky emerald earrings, stilt-high Louboutins and a cigarette between my lips as I walk away from the scene of the crime.”

Alaska Riley, Social Media Editor

“I’m a collarbone and cleavage girl so I prioritize a wide or plunging neckline typically, but this Schiaparelli dress combines the sleekness and modesty of built-in gloves finished with a gold nail that elevates the look to be very holiday friendly while still giving party-ful glamour. The versatility of being able to be worn off the shoulder completely? They tore severely.”
