Billie Eilish's newest single, "All the Good Girls Go to Hell" might read one way (characteristically morose, full of haunting imagery phrases), but the mission behind its video is another story.
Eilish has had quite the year following her debut breakout album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, and with more visibility comes greater responsibility. The emerging superstar is now using her platform to speak out about climate change.
The video, directed by Rich Lee, can be best viewed as an ominous look at what's facing human existence. "All the Good Girls Go to Hell" is chock-full of dark images, from a winged Eilish falling from the heavens and crash landing into a mucky, post-apocalyptic earth to then walking its fiery streets.

The clip comes ahead of the United Nations' 2019 Climate Action Summit in New York City, as well as the forthcoming global #ClimateStrike, which is led by fellow teen activist Greta Thunberg.
Eilish wrote a message to her fans on her Instagram Stories addressing the need for climate change: "Right now, there are millions of people all over the world begging our leaders to pay attention," she writes in part. "Our earth is warming up at an unprecedented rate, ice caps are melting, our oceans are rising, our wildlife is being poisoned and our forests are burning."
