Balenciaga Drops LED Frame Sunglasses
By Jasmine Ting
Sep 29, 2019Balenciaga has launched its Summer 2020 Eyewear collection, and included in the line are LED Frame sunglasses. The stylish and sleek, yet bold, thick, rectangular-framed glasses come with a lightweight LED system that illuminates the Balenciaga logo.
The logo lights up once the glasses' arms are extended, and can switch to different colors and patterns with a controllable tap sensor. The letters can turn blue, red, green, purple, yellow, and white, and can either blink, remain static, or fade from one color to another. The light turns off when the glasses are closed, if the shades are placed upside down on a surface for over five seconds, or when the sensor is tapped three times.

According to a press release, the LED Frames were inspired by '90s light-up sneakers, and also tie in with Balenciaga's light-up sneakers and boots featured in the label's Spring 2019 runway show, which retailed for over $900. The price point for the glasses have not been revealed.
