Valentino Brings Couture Ideas to Wearable Clothes

Pierpaolo Piccioli has produced some of the most breathtaking collections on the Haute Couture calendar for Valentino, bringing his inclusive, diverse approach to the highest echelons of fashion. Thus far, the beauty and magic of his couture shows have translated seamlessly into his ready-to-wear collections. But for Spring 2020, he brought a more practical, wearable sensibility while still retaining the resplendent glamour of couture. The easier shapes and practical accessories made this a smart evolution in the Valentino story. Here's everything you need to know about the collection.

Pure White

The first 16 looks of the collection were variations of a white dress shirt, with dramatic wrap dresses, bishop sleeves, and neck ruffles giving the standard piece of clothing a regal twist.

Bright Colors

Piccioli did not restrain when it came to his signature use of bold colors. Acid hues, pops of neon, and bright pinks all looked captivating on the runway.

Tropical Prints

Jungle prints in tropical motifs and patterns decorated colorful summer dresses.

Feather Frenzy

Plumes and feathers were applied in restrained volumes and shapes that made them still wearable.

Ruffles & Tulle

The frothy dresses in layers of tulle from couture were pared down this season but still feminine and ethereal.
