Tory Burch Brought 14,000 Carnations to NYFW

It might've been 30 degrees in New York City, but Tory Burch's Fall '18 runway show — complete with a string quartet and 14,000 carnations — made the cold city feel like a spring fantasy. The sharp, feminine collection was inspired by Burch's friend, and Jackie O's sister, Lee Radziwill's wit and style, as well as the carnation-covered production of Pina Bausch's Nelken, a theatrical portrayal of oppression. "Romanticism defines the Fall/Winter 2018 mood," Burch says in a statement.

As extravagant as the setting was, the presentation was refreshingly unfussy. Fresh-faced models donned lush ruffles and dreamy '70s floral patterns. Soft layers met structured tailoring to play up Burch's vision of sensitive vigor and harmonious contrast. Her fuchsia pussy bow dress, worn by Selena Forrest, was the collection's standout look, contextualizing Burch's embrace of strength and femininity.
