The 29 Faces of Gypsy Sport's Otherworldly NYFW Show

Gypsy Sport's Spring 2020 NYFW show felt a bit more subdued than past presentations — but not because of the clothes, a reliably eclectic assortment of mixed animal prints, graphic floral, fauna, and fire motifs, varsity-inspired sportswear, and artfully shredded hemlines showing off, as always, acres of luscious skin.

The setting was a downtown Manhattan venue, The Delancey. Rooftop guests looked on quietly as Gypsy Sport's (also reliably) diverse cast, from West Dakota to Hennessy, stalked through palm and floral brush, as if replicating the calmly strategic mood of lions scoping out prey in the tropical savanna. Or, perhaps of people peacefully on an island vacation. Whatever the mood was, other life forms were present in this particular circle of life.

Models would complete their prowls to the futuristic funk instrumentals of Aaliyah and Missy Elliott tracks. Then, every so often, an alien-esque being would come forward, as if beamed down from Mars. Their skin was made entirely of shimmering glitter, and they were there to transport audience members into another realm, whether here on Earth or to the next dimension.

Creative director Rio Uribe again enlisted casting director Anthony Conti to bring in the faces executing this earthbound, yet otherworldly vision. Meet them, below.
