K-Pop Star Goo Hara Dies at 28
By Jasmine Ting
Nov 24, 2019K-pop star Goo Hara, also known as Hara, was found dead in her home in Seoul on Sunday.
According to Billboard, the police said that the 28-year-old was found by an acquaintance who then reported it to the authorities. No further details were given. The cause of death is still currently under investigation.
Hara just came from a comeback tour in Japan last week after signing with Japanese management agency, Production Ogi. She also released a new Japanese song entitled "Midnight Queen" back in September.
The artist debuted as part of K-Pop girl group KARA back in 2008, and later embarked on a solo career after they disbanded in 2015. She also took on acting roles both for television shows and movies.
Back in May, Hara was also found unconscious at her home, and was hospitalized. The South China Morning Post reported it as an "apparent suicide attempt." After the incident, she issued an apology to fans, "I am sorry for causing concerns and a commotion. In terms of health, I am recovering … I had been in agony over a number of overlapping issues. But from now on, I will steel my heart and try to show up healthy."
Before her death, her last post on Instagram was a photo with the caption, "Good night."
Hara's death is the latest among Korean celebrity deaths that have left fans devastated. In October, f(x) singer Sulli was found dead at 25 years old. And in 2017, SHINee's Kim Jonghyun passed away at 27.
