It's impossible to be across all the new music out each Friday. Luckily, PAPER is here to help you out: each week, we round up 10 of our favorite new songs from artists — emerging and established — to soundtrack your life. From the surreal to the sublime, these songs cover every corner of the music world. The only criteria: they all have to absolutely rip.

Song of the Week: Corbin - "Carbon Monoxide"

Corbin's first single in three years adds haze and fleet-footedness to his usual cocktail of pop-punk and emo-rap, as well as a hint of classic '80s-era Cherry Red indie bands. "Carbon Monoxide" is a sad, mournful song, but there's sweetness to it, thanks to the new directness of Corbin's vocal melody. For an artist who emerged with such a distinctive, indelible style, it's invigorating to hear a change in atmosphere and direction without sacrificing that initial fingerprint that'd made him an icon of underground pop.

Lady Gaga - "Abracadabra"

I’m loath to accept the idea that this is Lady Gaga’s “return” to the dancefloor — we went to Chromatica a mere five years ago — “Abracadabra” is winky and fun, a welcome new addition to Gaga’s stable of frenetic dance tracks.

YHWH Nailgun - "Sickle Walk"

YHWH Nailgun frontman Zach Borzone sings like he was born with steel wool stuffed down his throat; he is the perfect frontman for this band, whose composite elements seem to be sparking electrical wire, rattling pot lids and snapped two-by-fours.

Isabella Lovestory, TAICHU - "Putita Boutique"

Isabella Lovestory remains in her electroclash bag on this cunty, sultry new track, which feels destined to soundtrack a teen movie in the not-too-distant future.

Destroyer - "Hydroplaning Off the Edge of the World"

After a few albums spent in after-hours clubs and sticky-carpeted dives, Dan Bejar is back in the sunlight. “Hydroplaning Off the Edge of the World” carries the darkness that all his music does, but it also feels ecstatic, reaching toward joy and meaning with great effort.

LISA, Doja Cat, RAYE - "Born Again"

This superstar team-up finds our trio exploring the kind of 80s sleaze that was oh-so-popular in the mid-2010s. It’s a weird combination, but it works.

Doechii - "Nosebleeds"

Did someone say mid-2010s? Doechii has capped off her huge Grammys win with a menacing new track featuring an extremely TNGHT-sounding beat.

Sharon Van Etten - "Idiot Box"

Working with her band The Attachment Theory has opened Sharon Van Etten up to a new sense of groove and looseness, evidenced by “Idiot Box”— a gorgeously unfurling highlight of her new album.

Deb Never - "This Alive"

Deb Never’s rich, hardy voice sounds perfect alongside this kind of neo-shoegaze, her melancholy lyrics taking on a sense of urgency thanks to the song’s rippling tension.

corook - "THEY!"

corook’s new twee anthem is a show of support for LGBTQ+ communities in light of Trump’s new onslaught against trans people.
