No One Is Playing With Color Better Than Sies Marjan Right Now

Sies Marjan designer Sander Lak has only been showing for a few years, but he quickly developed a loyal following who gravitate toward his fluid silk separates, crinkled satin shirts, and, of course, his use of captivating, eye-catching colorways. What makes Lak so adept at playing with color? Whether it's his monochromatic pajama sets or slinky slip dresses, the shapes are simple enough to warrant an enchanting, highly saturated color that instantly commands attention. For Spring 2020, he sent out a sea of silky garments in his richest color palette yet: the kind of reds, emeralds, canary yellows and blues that radiate a lust-worthy mood. And if that point didn't come across the first time, a swarm of rainbow confetti exploded during the finale, showing just how much Lak has embraced his ability to delight people with color. Here's everything else you need to know about the collection.

Jewel Tones

The shimmer and sheen of Sies Marjan's silk dresses and lacquered coats make the colors stand out all the more. Jewel tones like emerald and ruby look especially resplendent.

Giant Crossbody

A contender for accessory of the season lies in Sies Marjan's oversized, giant crossbody bags. They come in the embossed croc material in rich vibrant colors seen in the ready-to-wear.

Faux Alligator

Expensive-looking coats and jackets are embossed with shiny croc detailing. Synergies with color once again take effect thanks to the monochromatic styling and contrast in textures.

Cowl Necklines

Droopy, asymmetrical cowl necklines in bias-cut slip dresses and tops are some of the more sensual looks presented here. The vibrant red version is particularly striking with the matching lipstick red.

Square Necklines

In contrast to the cowled dresses, squared necklines on buttoned dresses and tanks offered an alternative shape. One styling trick in particular lit up the Twittersphere: Look 34's red cardigan wrapped and folded casually around a blue belt.
