Gigi Hadid Stormed the Lanvin Runway Despite Heavy Downpour

The rain did not let down on Day 2 of Paris Fashion Week, but the show as always must go on. Models such as Gigi Hadid, Adut Akech, and Vittoria Ceretii all strutted their stuff on the runway for Lanvin's Spring 2020 collection, despite the heavy downpour. Guests were sitting in the gardens outside the Musee de Quai Branly and were given plastic ponchos and umbrellas to stay dry. The collection marked Creative Director Bruno Sialelli's second women's RTW collection for the French brand. His debut show in March contained a bevy of ideas, and he continued that more-is-more mindset for spring with an abundance of design elements in the 64-look collection. Here's everything you need to know about the show.

Slouchy Tailoring

Sialelli's strongest looks were unstructured suits with sloped or elongated sleeves and slouchy pants that looked utterly cool on the soaked runway.

Comic Strips

The focal point of this collection's prints centered on the 1095 comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland, with surreal childlike cartoons decorating oversized shirts and flowy dresses.

Checkerboard Patterns

Bold checkerboard prints were mashed together in patchwork patterns and played with in different scales and colors.

Floppy Hats

While big floppy hats continue to have a moment, Lanvin's versions are medium-sized with a wide droopy brim that falls right below the ears.

Grecian Princess

The trio of finale looks were Grecian mini confections with asymmetrical draping and metallic detailing.
