Guvanch Went to Heaven and Hell at NYFW

Feb 10, 2025
This season Guvanch took its show, called "Dowzah," through a journey into Hell, Purgatory and Heaven with its latest Fall 2025 collection that featured over 40 looks. The brand is known for its smoky yet seductive approach to design, and this season expanded its vision with rusted metal, billowing tulles and animal hides.
The runway took place in an empty storefront on 24th Street, where the models walked among dark trees while a live orchestra played, each one in their character. It's just another element that made the show special, being able to devour each moment, with every model getting about one minute on the runway, slowly turning and pivoting in grandeur and taking the audience through Heaven, Purgatory and Hell.
When casting director Fish Fiorucci (from F10 Casting) talked about their concept behind the models for this season, they said they were only looking for models that had the best pump around, with a focus mainly on POC and trans femmes that run New York's fashion and nightlife scenes. Most were scouted from clubs, libraries and even from smoking in the park.
The hair and makeup team, led by Yuhi Kim and Kento Utsubo, centered on grunge drama for the hellish looks with long, pressed hair accented with bleached and dark burgundy raccoon stripes. Red fringed mullets matched cheeky bubble gum pink lips to create an early 2000s nostalgia of grit and pop glam. Long stiletto nails matched platform heels for an elevated twist. The heavenly models were sun bleached, and the tones in their looks were calm, muted variations of white, beige and yellow. Headpieces by Sideara St. Claire were deconstructed taxidermy deer painted with white spackle, creating a texture with gradient furs.
Below, Guvanch let PAPER backstage for a more intimate look into how the brand went to Hell and back to create one of this season's most exhilarating off-calendar shows.
