Princess Diana Is Tory Burch's Muse for Spring 2020

Spring collections always bring out the best in Tory Burch, who has a knack for elevating cliche spring references (florals, chiffon, gingham) into covetable and lust-worthy clothes for a wide audience. So when she cited Princess Diana as her muse for Spring 2020, she naturally avoided any literal interpretations and instead incorporated some loose '80s references. This season, she served up a concoction of garden party looks that have become her signature, holding her show at the Brooklyn Museum with greenery and shrubs scattered throughout. Here's everything else you need to know about the collection.

Flower Power

While florals for spring are never groundbreaking, it's the sumptuous fabrics and silhouettes they're printed on this season that take it from predictable to swoon-worthy. Smocks with big '80s sleeves and sensual slip dresses all feature a variety of floral sizes and colors.

Delicate Patchwork

A trio of looks were constructed with handkerchief patchworks with delicate lace detailing and embroidered floral appliques. This came in the form of camisole tops, maxi skirts and floor-length dresses.

Pussybow Blouses

Silk blouses with wide sleeves in a variety of prints and colors featured large pussybow detailing. Marigold tops, color-blocked shorts and floral blouses all received the treatment.

Gingham Style

The classic gingham pattern is a spring staple. It was seen on fluid see-through dresses and lightweight camisole tops.

Waist Trainer

A corset-like band held in the waist on top of blouses and floor-length dresses. A braided rope belt didn't actually cinch it any further as it acted as a decorative element instead.
