Rihanna Is an Author Now

by Austin Fialkow

Robyn Rihanna Fenty carries many titles: musician, entrepreneur, fashion designer, actress, and now, author.

The superstar took to Instagram this morning to announce her newest project which, perhaps to some fans' dismay, is not new music. Instead, it is a 504-page coffee-table book called The Rihanna Book that features 1,050 color images and 11 special inserts from the iconic singer's action-packed life. The book, which Rihanna describes as a "piece of art," took over five years of planning and curating to create.

Rihanna's eponymous book — her second coffee-table book since 2010's Rihanna: The Last Girl on Earth— will feature never-before-seen photos of the singer, documenting her life from childhood in Barbados and world tours to her entry into the fashion industry, not only as a model, but as the designer of FENTY, her luxury fashion label under the LVMH umbrella.

The Rihanna Book will be published by Phaidon and was announced this morning via a trailer on Rihanna's Instagram and YouTube. Rihanna and art publisher Phaidon will host a pre-publication book party this Friday, October 11, at the Guggenheim Museum, with limited tickets available to the public.

In addition to an Instagram announcement, Rihanna further described the book in a statement posted to her website. "I am so excited to share this collection of incredible images," she said. "I'm very grateful to the talented photographers and artists who contributed. We've been working on the book for over five years and I'm really happy to be able to finally share it with everybody."

In addition to the $150 standard edition, the "visual autobiography" will be available in three limited editions: Fenty x Phaidon Edition, Luxury Supreme, and Ultra Luxury Supreme, the last of which will come signed by Rihanna and The Haas Brothers and include a hand-carved marble pedestal piece named "Stoner." This, unfortunately, has already sold-out. But fear not — the other editions are still available for pre-order on therihannabook.com, just in time for the holidays.
