Dr. Martens Continues To Evolve With Boots Like No Other

In an age of trend overload, few things stand the test of time like a pair of Dr. Martens. Born on April 1, 1960, and named for the date, the 1460 boot has been a closet staple for many.
The design is iconic: its durable, smooth leather with 8-eyes set on a grooved outsole with the brand’s signature yellow welt stitch and finished with a signed AirWair heel loop. Plus, the wide rounded toe shape and air-cushioned sole have kept people bounding even on the longest days, and the leather shapes itself to become more personal with every wear.
Based on the original 1460 boot, Dr. Martens is introducing the newest editions to its historic line-up: the Sub Boot and 14XX Sub Boot. After all, Dr. Martens boots are made like no other.
“Our icon, the 1460 boot, is timeless and the perfect canvas for the design team to experiment with,” said Joel Wilson, Design Lead – AMP, Dr. Martens. “There’s a reason why the boot is still relevant over 60 years later; the design features such as the heat-sealed sole and classic yellow welt stitch are unique and speak to something much bigger than a boot, it’s a statement. When the team designed the Sub Boot, the ambition was to level up and evolve a workwear silhouette specifically for urban wet weather environments – it’s a new construction of the icon and one we’re really excited to release this autumn winter. Looking forward even further to the 14XX iteration of the Sub Boot, the icon is at the very center of the design, yet unseen by the world and hidden by a removable wind, sand and waterproof gaiter featuring a print that nods to snow camouflage.’’
The 1460 Sub Boot is not just another boot: It’s a revolution in footwear, designed for wet weather protection. There’s a waterproof base and air-cushioned sole, a water-resistant and breathable upper and, of course, the 1460 boot 8-eye silhouette and AirWair heel loop. It’s the epitome of Dr. Martens ability to blend functionality with timeless design.
The second offering, the 14XX Sub Boot, sees the brand pushing the boundaries of its iconography and design. A mutant offspring, the boot explores the traditional silhouettes with maximalist features, including removable and adjustable gaiters, fleece lining and a snow camo print.
The 1460 boot is available now for $170 at drmartens.com. On October 3rd, the Sub Boot and 14XX Sub Boot will be available in stores globally at drmartens.com.
