Graham Tyler Lets Childhood Dreams Run Wild

While several brands were staging big budget spectacles and large scale runway shows this NYFW, designer Graham Tyler opted instead to hold an intimate presentation of his Fall 2020 collection at the George Billis Gallery in Chelsea.
The ready-to-wear and accessories (including the sculptural headpieces he's known for) were hung on walls and on mannequins in an exhibit-style format that drew big names in fashion like the CFDA's Steven Kolb, luxury consultant Julie Gilhart and investor Gary Wassner to check out the collection up close.
Tyler is notably a finalist for the CFDA and Accessories Council's Elaine Gold Launch Pad, which helps support young designers. For Fall 2020, he was inspired by a short film from avant guard filmmaker Jospeh Cornell called Jack's Dream. The collection was screen printed with playful childhood memories and dreams onto wool skirts and dresses.

There was also an exaggerated, oversized button-down shirt featured in the back gallery that was scaled where the viewer felt like a child while Cornell's film played in the background. Tyler, who likes to incorporate Edwardian and Victorian references in his work, is no doubt one to watch as he enters his next season.
