Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis Hosts ‘Face of Halloween’

Jamie Lee Curtis may have hung up her Halloween alter ego Laurie Strode in 2022, but the original “Scream Queen” is joining evil forces with fellow slasher-film vets, Matthew Lillard (Scream), and Kane Hodder (aka Jason Voorhees), and turning her crown toward something new: hosting Face of Halloween, the ultimate horror-fan competition with a duel happy ending!

Curtis, Kane, and Lillard -- who’ll be gracing the Scream 7 screen this February -- are encouraging horror fans to unite for Face of Halloween. This national online voting-based competition puts horror fans in the spotlight, allowing them to showcase their ultimate inner ghoul, and compete for a gloriously spine-chilling prize with the opportunity to meet their favorite stars, all while raising money to support the Starlight Children's Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to delivering happiness to seriously ill kids and their families.

Here’s How the Face of Halloween Competition Works

Registered participants upload photos, get creative to rally their communities, and collect votes! From designing a personalized QR code to attending a horror convention, to stopping into Halloween stores -- anything goes to help gain supporters and boost votes! And don't worry, all this legwork will be generously rewarded!

One unlucky Face of Halloween champion will walk away with $13,000, and a feature in Rue Morguemagazine — but the real draw is in the experiences! They’ll earn a meet-and-greet with Curtis at a Starlight event, sit down with Matthew Lillard for a chat, and head into a paranormal investigation with Kane Hodder. Hodder, best known for bringing Jason Voorhees to life in the Friday the 13th films and Victor Crowley in the Hatchet franchise, will even invite one more fan to join the ghost hunt.

Anyone can cast a vote, and every person is allotted one free vote per 24 hours. Additional votes by donation are just $1 a vote with proceeds benefiting Starlight to help brighten hospital stays with programs that ease fear, distract from pain, and spark joy for ill kids.

Horror for Hospitals–Sound Odd?

Not really. The whole thing is powered by Colossal, a professional fundraising organization that’s turned fan competitions into impactful fundraisers supporting nonprofits. Other Colossal campaigns -- like Baby of the Year hosted by Jessica Alba, and Fab Over 40 hosted by Giuliana Rancic, run on the same voting platform, raise millions of dollars for their chosen charities.

Starlight Children's Foundation is a donation-funded nonprofit that's free for hospitals, serving 3 million kids and counting across over 800 pediatric facilities throughout the U.S. The organization delivers play-based programming designed to make hospital stays less scary. Initiatives include swapping plain gowns for bright, playful ones, setting up a playroom on a ward with toys, or giving kids a gaming console to escape into while they’re stuck in bed.

“Starlight helps children face real fears with strength and joy,” Curtis said when announcing her Face of Halloween role. “I’m honored to help shine a light on their work.”

For fans, Face of Halloween is the ultimate 9-week-long experience with the winner meeting Curtis. Talking horror with Lillard. Hunting ghosts with Hodder. Basically, a horror fan’s dream.
