Bella Hadid Slays Mugler Runway in Pants-Less Look

For the opening of Mugler's Spring 2020 show in Paris, Bella Hadid emerged in one of the most show-stopping looks yet — a cropped blazer with a sheer corset and black stockings, no pants in sight. It set the tone for a collection that doubled down on the brand's signature sexy tailoring and dress-making, with exposed torsos, thigh-high slits and plunging necklines incorporated throughout. The casting was also commendable for its diverse mix of body types, ages, and ethnicities. (It's not often you'll see Hadid, Kembra Pfahler and Debra Shaw on the same runway.) Here's everything else you need to know about the Casey Cadwallader-designed collection.

Cropped Blazers

A big focus for Mugler this season was experimenting with traditional tailoring and giving it a sexy, dark edge. This resulted cropped jackets cut high up the rib cage leaving an exposed torso, held together only with a small hidden closure.

'80s Shoulders

Big, padded shoulders in long coats looked powerful and roomy. They're a nod to the brand's '80s heyday with its wide lapels and structured shape giving it a clever retro feel.

Ruched Skirts

Another '80s reference were the ruffled, ruched skirts that hung low on the hips in crinkly fabrics.

Flute Sleeves

Dresses and shirts, whether sheer or rendered in glossy satin, featured elongated sleeves with a distinct flute cuff that flared out wide.

Hazy Glow

Multi-colored stripes in hazy, gradient hues were printed on fitted dresses with cutouts and slash detailing.
