Jazz Jennings 'Proudly' Shows Off Her Surgery Scars

Trans activist Jazz Jennings just shared an important message about being "proud" of her gender confirmation surgery scars.

Earlier this week, the 19-year-old star took to Instagram to share two #DecadeChallenge photos of herself in a swimsuit that showed off two scars on her thighs.

Dubbing them her "battles wounds," Jennings went on to talk about how "they signify the strength and perseverance it took to finally complete my transition."

"I'm proud of my scars and love my body just the way it is," she also wrote in the post — an inspiring comment that drew praise from everyone from Drag Race star Peppermint to her mother, who wrote, "Your scars are just as beautiful as you the rest of you. I love you with all that I am. You make me proud everyday."

Previously, Jennings' doctor revealed that she'd need more skin grafts as a result of complications related to her initial surgery.

And while Jennings acknowledged the "unfortunate" setback to ABC News back in 2018, she also told the outlet that it "was just all part of the journey" and that, "the good thing though is that it was only cosmetic and external so it wasn't too dramatic."

Since then, Jennings has continued to embrace the ups-and-downs — though she acknowledged that her family's support was a big help in an episode of her reality show I Am Jazz.

"Having my whole family with me throughout this entire journey has been so important," she explained. "From the beginning, they have just provided me with unconditional love and support, and the fact that they're here on this day just signifies that we've come so, so far since the beginning of this journey. This is really the final step, this is the final transition, and I'm so glad that I have them by my side."
