Finally, a Silent Haircut Where Small Talk Is Banned

If your least favorite part of getting a haircut is talking with the stylist, then you might want to book a flight to London. Not Another Salon, which prides itself on having a "no judgment policy," has launched "the world's first silent haircut," where small talk is forbidden and the only exchange you need is one pertaining to your cut.

The idea is the brainchild of salon owner Sophie Hilton, who explained that her decision was rooted in letting her customers have time to themselves instead of feeling obligated to drag on a conversation. "In order for us to be a true non judgment company we need to consider all our clients needs," she told Evening Standard. "With mental health issues on the rise, feeling comfortable to say when you need time out couldn't be more important."

If you do opt for the silent haircut, all you need to do is say the word "silent" when making your appointment. Throughout the course of your cut or color, your conversation will then only be limited to things related to your service. "Your stylist will still talk you though your consultation and any hair related information throughout your service, but the rest of the time is yours," Hilton wrote on Instagram.

This isn't the first time the idea of a small talk-free salon service has been experimented with. In 2015, another UK salon called Bauhaus in Wales introduced what they called the "quiet chair," where customers could choose to "opt out" of having any conversation when making an appointment.

Although the concept is slowly picking up, unfortunately it only seems to be limited to the other side of the ocean.
