Jennifer Lopez Responds to 'Too Sexy' Super Bowl Criticism

Jennifer Lopez has no time for critics of her bombastic Super Bowl halftime performance with Shakira.

As you probably know by now, Lopez and Shakira shut down the stadium with their politically charged show earlier this month. And while many applauded the dazzling display, others were less pleased about the "too sexy" performance — leading to some chatter about "sexual objectification" and even a lawsuit from a Christian activist who argued they put him "in danger of hellfire."

In the wake of these criticisms, Lopez herself has responded to the hubbub and, needless to say, her answer is perfect.

While attending the Independent Spirit Awards over the weekend, Lopez stopped to chat with Variety about the haters, clocking all the naysay for what it was: "silliness."

"Both of us are really respectful performers who are moms and have kids and are very conscious of what we do," Lopez said. "We [put on] a show that I believe was a celebration of women and our Latino culture that I think was really well reserved. And that small faction of people who want to be negative about it, I can't even let in."

Lopez then went on to add that the main message of her show was to inspire young women to be confident and embrace their power.

"The message of standing up for yourself, being a women — that's what I want to pass on to little girls — everything about you—be proud of it," she said, before adding, "I'm very proud of the performance that night."

As she should be! Watch her interview with the outlet, below.
