In a real life version of Ocean's 8, Missy Elliott has reported that one of her pricey diamond necklaces went missing backstage at the MTV VMAs on Monday. This morning she asked her Twitter and Instagram followers to keep an eye out for it and promised a reward.
Elliott performed a medley of her hits at the VMAs, after receiving MTV's coveted Video Vanguard Award for her contributions to music over the past two decades. She was photographed wearing a number of sparkly chains onstage, and it's understandable that she lost track of them during what must have been a chaotic night of celebrating. According to Diplo, the after party was lit.
Maybe the necklace fell behind a chair in the green room, or maybe a team of celebrities with highly specific skills pulled off a dramatic million dollar heist on pop culture's night of nights. Who knows? I'm not saying we should pull Alyson Stoner in for questioning, but I'm not not saying that. Other suspects: the Hadids, Taylor Swift, maybe even sweet Bebe Rexha? It's always the innocent looking ones. The VMAs were a jewelry thief's jackpot: Lizzo also wore some dazzling jewels with her red Moschino gown.
For real though, we hope Missy finds her bling. And also that she contacted authorities, rather than just posting on her Instagram Story.
