In anticipation of the October 16th release of Spike Jonze’s take on Maurice Sendak's children’s book Where The Wild Things Are, the creative minds behind Space 15 Twenty in Los Angeles have developed a pop-up fantasy store that will drive the disobedient inner kids in all of us to dreamlike euphoria. Built to resemble Sedak’s iconic illustrations, the boutique has been transformed into a magic forest lined with tree branch sculptures and fiberglass oaks -- props recycled from set -- and holds every imaginable memorabilia to satiate the wild thing within. Amongst some of the most curious items on display: a collection of creative director Sonny Gerasimowicz's sketches, a sampling of Christian Joy’s beautiful costumes, T-shirts by Geoff McFetridge and of course the movie's much awaited soundtrack featuring Karen O. If that's not enough to make your inner child jump for joy, Opening Ceremony announced a limited edition collection of merchandise inspired by the adaptation featuring a range of faux fur coats, hoodies, and parkas for both men and women. The piece de resistance, of course, is Max’s iconic one-piece playsuit we all remember and love.
The Where the Wild Things Are exhibit will run through October 18th at Space 15 Twenty (1520 N. Cahuenga Boulevard, LA).
