We all Scream For Scream, Scream 2 & Scream 3 On Blu-ray

Just in time for Scream 4 opening this week is new Blu-ray transfers of the Scream trilogy (Lionsgate). The first Scream (1996) was a witty and scary horror film. Well-written by Kevin Williamson and expertly directed by horror master Wes Craven (A Nightmare On Elm Street), it starred Neve Campbell as Sidney, frightened by a mask and knife-wielding killer in her home town. With star turns by Drew Barrymore (in a fabulous opening sequence) and memorable performances by David Arquette as Officer "Dewey", Courtney Cox, Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich. In Scream 2 (1997),  Campbell returns as Sidney, now a college student, and the recent movie about her misadventures (Stab) causing a copycat series of violent crimes. Once again, there is a great opening set in a movie theater with Omar Epps and Jada Pinkett. Scream 3 (2000) was a weary end to the trilogy, set around a film studio where the actors are becoming targets of the wily killer "Ghost Face" who uses a voice disguising mechanism to confuse his victims. It's still rather fun to revisit this series which is ironic and jump-inducing at the same time.
