For the past 5 years,
Boiler Room has been the go-to source for streaming some of the the world's best underground electronic talent. Hosting sessions everywhere from London flats to Tokyo clubs, they're a staple of the international club community, and we wish them well for another fabulous 5.
So it's no surprise that last month, they teamed up with legendary Italian automakers Fiat to host a free, one-off celebration at NYC's Verboten of all things Italo Disco, appropriately dubbed Imports. A cult, vocoder-heavy dance subgenre born in, uh, Italy in the late 70s, Italo Disco has been cited as a source of inspiration for many contemporary electronic artists, including event headliners Classixx and The Juan Maclean (who played a killer back-to-back set for the first time with member/frequent collaborator Nancy Whang) -- and for good reason, even despite being dubbed an
"amazingly uncool" genre.
Imports also featured a panel discussion and record store, the entire thing was rounded out by a big club event on October 8th -- and we have the exclusive premiere of both headliner's streaming sets...you know, just in case you couldn't make it to New York last month. Watch both sets below to get ready for the weekend.
