Leave it to Mykki Blanco to subvert every normative trope and cultural mainstay for the better, because their new video for "High School Never Ends" is possibly the most comprehensive, multi-pronged take on everything from contemporary queer politics to Shakespearian pretension we've ever seen -- with an incredible and ethereal, orchestral soundscape to boot.

A revamped spin on Romeo and Juliet, the Matt Lambert-directed short tells the story about two queer outsiders engaged in forbidden relations, with both emerging from families holding staunch "us" versus "them" ideologies. However, current political issues -- namely the European refugee crisis -- also factor into Blanco's take on this timeless tale, as they explain to The Fader that "I had once thought Europe was my safe haven from American white supremacy, and how wrong I became." Watch the lavish, multifaceted video below and prepare to be blown away.
