Over the weekend, R&B singer Kehlani stopped in the middle of a hometown show to speak about mental illness and her own struggle with depression, referencing her recent suicide attempt in a candid, extremely moving new speech.

"[Suicide] is something that so many young people are dealing with...and so many young people slip under the rug. Please, don't try it, don't do it," she says before announcing that she would be working with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. "You know I'm very honest with the people that support me. It wasn't a first time thing, and that's not okay. It's not okay for anyone. Not the people around you, not the people who love you, not the people who care about you."

However, her talk ended on a hopeful note, with the singer encouraging others to support their friends who seem to be having a tough time. Watch the touching speech in full below.
