John Malkovich and David Lynch are two people that can never be accused of lacking in intensity, and it turns out that when they get together, they can produce enough creeping existential dread and sexually-charged confusion to make you move up your therapy appointment. The two have recently teamed up on an art project entitled Playing Lynch, in which Malkovich portrays seven of Lynch's most iconic characters like Dale Cooper, John Merrick, Frank Booth, Henry Spencer, The Log Lady, and more, set to original scores by the likes of Wayne Coyne, Sky Ferreira, Zola Jesus and Lykke Li. You can pay to download these scenes and the accompanying album on the
Playing Lynch website, and all proceeds benefit The David Lynch Foundation, which aims to teach Transcendental Meditation to sufferers of traumatic stress.
Speaking of traumatic stress, here's the trailer for the project!
Not all of the scenes have been released yet, but so far we have a damn good
An utterly terrifying Frank Booth from
Blue Velvet... Do you know what a love letter is?
The Lady in the Radiator from
An unnerving Henry Spencer from Eraserhead...
... And the basis for every Halloween party's most popular costume, The Log Lady.
Sweet dreams, and don't forget, the owls are not what they seem!
