Artist Kalup Linzy has a new show opening tonight at Garis & Hahn on the Bowery that he's describing as "a visual mixtape." Art.Jobs.Lullabies, which is up until May 2nd, includes videos of Linzy performing covers and remixes of various pop hits as many of the 22 characters and alter egos he's developed in his work over the years. The show will feature cameos from several of Linzy's personas, including the performance artist Pisces, a video artist named Kaye, Jimmy and Lisa (Kaye's parents), and a lounge singer named Taiwan, who, until now, was presumed dead. Watch a sneak peak of two of the videos from the show above, featuring Linzy's covers of Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick''s "Don't Make Me Over" and Curtis Mayfield's "We People Who Are Darker Than Blue."
