Update: CBGB Music Festival Confirmed, Club Will Possibly Re-Open Downtown

A few months ago we mentioned that rumors were swirling about a CBGB summer music festival and now the Times have confirmed that a four-day fest from July 5-8 will indeed go down.  Word is, there'll be around 300 bands playing in various NYC venues from Central Park Summerstage and Webster Hall to Williamsburg's Trash Bar and the Living Room on the LES.  The Cro-Mags, Vision of Disorder, Sick of It All, Guided By Voices, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Cloud Nothings and former New York Dolls member David Johansen are reportedly all on the line-up.  As for permanent digs, the new owners are said to be scoping out new locations downtown (its former home at 315 Bowery is now a John Varvatos store).

In the meantime, dust off your leather jacket and Febreze those gnarly black jeans -- we'll see ya at the fest.
