Troye Sivan's 'The Good Side' is Syrupy Sweet

By Hilton Dresden

Following the release of his latest single "My My My," a glorious anthem for queer love and the perfect soundtrack for stomping down the sidewalk, we've come to expect a lot from Troye Sivan. The 22-year-old's new song has been on repeat in our headphones for the past week, and now, we've got one more song to add to our queue: his syrupy follow-up "The Good Side."

Far from the synth-heavy, jubilant verses of "My My My," which came complete with a sensual, black-and-white video, "The Good Side" is soft, gentle, and comforting. It opens with scintillating harps and progresses into whimsical acoustic guitar chords. If we're comparing Sivan's comeback to our youthful musical queen Lorde, "The Good Side" would be the "Liability" to "My My My"'s "Green Light." Of course, "The Good Side" is a happy song — not quite the same tone set in "Liability."

Sivan will perform on Saturday Night Live this weekend, alongside host Jessica Chastain. It's possibly our favorite host/ musical guest combo of the season thus far.

Take a listen to "The Good Side," below.
