Tristram Shandy: A Cock And Bull Story

TRISTRAM SHANDY: A COCK AND BULL STORY

A rollickingly funny film by Michael Winterbottom about a London movie crew adapting Laurence Sterne's ribald 18th-century novel The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. Steve Coogan, playing a comic version of himself, is in the lead and is forced to deal with his own ego, his girlfriend (Kelly MacDonald) arriving on the set with their baby, his flirtatious assistant (Naomie Harris) and a director (Jeremy Northam) who's more concerned with bringing actress Gillian Anderson into the project and buying lifts for his shoes. I'll be damned if this film within a film doesn't approximate the anarchic energy of the novel. Stick around during the final credits for Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon's hilarious Al Pacino impersonations.
