The ongoing narratives of audacious fast fashion ripoffs and tragicomic $200 band tees have collided: Topshop is selling a $700 studded leather jacket emblazoned with the copyrighted Against Me! band logo without permission. Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace called the British retailer out on Twitter with a photo of the offending jacket, elaborating in the comments, "Against Me! is a trademark that I in fact, legally own."

The jacket also features the name of Huntington Beach punk band, The Vandals, and along with other cool, rebellious™ phrases, like:

STILL HATING

FOR GOD AND COUNTRY, FOR FREEDOM AND FLAG: STAY-PUNK, FOR BLOOD AND EMPIRE

SLAVE (seriously?)

RULES BREED REBELS

RIDE ÖR DIE (yes, with the Motörhead umlaut)

"Shut up, mom"Image via Topshop

Topshop has since removed the jacket from their website, but you can look at a cached version of the page here. Yes, this is a question of intellectual property, but I also do not like what this garment portends for our fashion future. After all, we can't stay in '90s minimalism/Y2k futurism forever...
