These Keith Haring Kirkwoods Were Made for Walking

Peter Davis

Shoe god Nicholas Kirkwood is known for collaborating with all the cool fashion peeps like Prabal Gurung, Erdem and Rodarte and now the chic British cobbler is looking to the art world for inspiration. His latest collection is a collaboration with The Keith Haring Foundation. Haring is back in the limelight with a retrospective at The Brooklyn Museum and though his mush-missed Pop Shop on Lafayette Street may be gone, I spot Haring iPhone cases and tee shirts everywhere. Kirkwood says he saw the documentary The Universe of Keith Haring and got inspired big time. "The bold graphic patterns in his work just really seemed to lend themselves to shoes," Kirskwood explains. The Andy Warhol Haring portrait wedge is to drool for, but though Haring got his start in subway stations, these heels are not meant for the A train but rather A-List style soirees.

Kirkwood is exhibiting the collection at his London boutique through July 1
