Crisscrossing stories ironically escape collision in another complex and emotionally charged film from Faith Akin (Head On). A university professor Nejat (Baki Davrak) travels to Istanbul to find the daughter of a prostitute whom his father has accidentally killed. Meanwhile, the prostitute's daughter, Ayten (Nurgul Yesilcay), a political extremist, has fled her country for Bremen, where she romantically hooks up with German student Lotte (Patrycia Ziolkowska), much to the dismay of Lotte's mother (former Fassbinder star Hanna Schygulla). The stories circumvent each other from time to time, but in the end are all about forgiveness and finding a kind of peace in acceptance through moments that are incredibly moving.
